Ruger has issued a Product Safety Bulletin for certain Ruger Precision Rifles due to the potential for interference between the aluminum bolt shroud and the cocking piece. Although only a small percentage of rifles appear to be affected and we are not aware of any injuries, Ruger is firmly committed to safety and is offering replacement aluminum bolt shrouds for affected rifles in order to eliminate the possibility of such interference.

PRODUCTS SUBJECT TO THIS SAFETY BULLETIN Ruger Precision Rifles (regardless of caliber) that have an aluminum bolt shroud and fall within the following serial number ranges are potentially affected: 1800-26274 to 1800-78345 OR 1801-00506 to 1801-30461 This Safety Bulletin does NOT apply to Ruger Precision Rifles with polymer bolt shrouds.

DESCRIPTION OF ISSUE Some Ruger Precision Rifles may experience interference between the aluminum bolt shroud and the cocking piece (also known as the firing pin back). In rare instances, the interference can disrupt the firing mechanism and cause it to not function properly. Possible results of this interference are light primer strikes or, in extreme cases, the rifle may not fire when the trigger is pulled. If the rifle fails to fire when the trigger is pulled, it may fire when the bolt handle is subsequently lifted. In rifles where this condition exists, the issue often resolves itself as the parts wear and the interference is reduced.

HOW TO DETERMINE IF YOUR RIFLE IS AFFECTED If your rifle falls within the serial number ranges above and has an aluminum bolt shroud, it is potentially affected. Visit the Ruger Precision Rifle® Safety Bulletin website at Ruger.com/RPRSafety to look up your serial number and verify that is the case. Although all rifles with aluminum bolt shrouds within the above serial number ranges are potentially affected, most rifles will never experience this issue. However, if you have ever experienced light primer indents or failure to fire with your Ruger Precision Rifle®, you should obtain a replacement bolt shroud, which Ruger will provide FREE of charge. Alternatively, if you have fired more than 100 rounds through your rifle with no issues or concerns (light primer indents or failures to fire), your rifle is unlikely to be affected and no additional action is necessary. If you are not sure whether your rifle has exhibited any light primer indents or failures to fire, or are in any way concerned about the safety of your rifle, please sign up for this offer and we will send you a FREE replacement bolt shroud.

WHAT TO DO IF YOUR RIFLE IS AFFECTED If you believe your rifle is affected or are unsure if your rifle is affected, you can request a FREE replacement bolt shroud by visiting Ruger.com/RPRSafety. You will be asked to provide us with the serial number of your rifle and contact information so we can send you a replacement bolt shroud with installation instructions.

HOW TO DETERMINE IF YOUR BOLT SHROUD HAS BEEN REPLACED Newly manufactured Ruger Precision Rifles will begin with serial number prefixes 1802 and 1803. Thus, if you have a Ruger Precision Rifle® with a serial number beginning with 1802, 1803 or higher, your rifle is not affected. Replacement bolt shrouds of the new design are easily identified by the presence of a round dimple on the angled surface directly behind the firing pin back. If your bolt shroud has this mark, it was manufactured with the new design and no further action is needed. NOTE: Some rifles have been fitted at the factory with replacement bolt shrouds that do not bear this dimple. Please use the lookup at Ruger.com/RPRSafety to verify whether your rifle is potentially affected.

It is important to always follow the rules of gun handling safety. Always keep your rifle pointed in a safe direction and treat every firearm as though it is loaded. If your rifle fails to fire when you pull the trigger, you should keep the rifle pointed in a safe direction and wait 30 seconds before slowly lifting the bolt handle. As you lift the bolt handle, expect that raising the bolt may cause the rifle to fire. FN America, LLC, announces today the mandatory recall of certain FN M249S® semi-automatic, belt-fed rifles in both standard and PARA configurations. A recently identified design issue within the hammer group of the rifle may adversely affect the rifle’s reliability. Under certain circumstances, a reset failure within the hammer group may cause the M249S to cease to function, causing an unsafe firing event. To correct this condition and restore consistent, proper and safe operation of the firearm, it is necessary to replace the hammer group. FN is instructing customers to discontinue use of these rifles immediately and return affected products to FN directly for installation of a new hammer group, at no cost. Not all FN M249S serial numbers are affected by this recall. Therefore, FN M249S owners are asked to please visit the FN M249S Safety Recall webpage and input their serial number. If the firearm is affected, further instruction on returning the FN M249S for service will be provided. Note: Please do not ship any affected product to FN until a FedEx label has been generated and sent to you. If the firearm is not affected, a message stating such will be displayed. Ruger recently discovered that all Mark IV™ pistols (including 22/45™ models) manufactured prior to June 1, 2017 have the potential to discharge unintentionally if the safety is not utilized correctly. In particular, if the trigger is pulled while the safety lever is midway between the “safe” and “fire” positions (that is, the safety is not fully engaged or fully disengaged), then the pistol may not fire when the trigger is pulled. However, if the trigger is released and the safety lever is then moved from the mid position to the “fire” position, the pistol may fire at that time. Although only a small percentage of pistols appear to be affected and we are not aware of any injuries, Ruger is firmly committed to safety and would like to retrofit all potentially affected pistols with an updated safety mechanism. Until your Mark IV™ pistol has been retrofitted or you verify that it is not subject to the recall, we strongly recommend that you not use your pistol. HOW TO DETERMINE IF YOUR PISTOL NEEDS THE RETROFIT All Mark IV™ pistols produced prior to June 1, 2017 are potentially affected and therefore are being recalled. This includes Mark IV™ Target, Hunter, Competition, 22/45™, 22/45™ Lite and 22/45™ Tactical models. These models bear serial numbers beginning with “401” (2017 models) or “WBR” (2016 models). Mark I, Mark II™ and Mark III™ Pistols are NOT affected. Newly manufactured Mark IV™ pistols will begin with serial number “500.” Thus, if you have a Mark IV™ or 22/45™ pistol with a serial number beginning with the number “5,” your pistol is not subject to the recall. Mark IV™ and 22/45™ pistols retrofitted with the updated safety mechanism are easily identified by the letter “S” in the white safety dot that is visible when the safety is engaged. SIG SAUER, Inc. has determined that a limited nuber of rifles in the SIG716, SIG516 CARBON FIRE, and SIGM400 models are subject to a SAfety Warning and Recall Notice. Some models were built with a two-stage SIG SAUER trigger that may have an improperly heat-treated hammer. Over time, this could result in a trigger malfunction creating a significant safety hazard. SIG SAUER is issuing a mandatory recall to replace the hammer and trigger assembly in these specific rifles. This recall does not affect any military or law enforcement rifles or any SIG MCX/SIG MPX products.

SIG SAUER will correct any of the affected firearms at no cost to the customer.

The firearms affected by the recall can be identified by the presence of a SIG mark etched into the hammer.

IMPORTANT SAFETY RECALL NOTICE – September 16, 2016 PRODUCT: T/C Compass Rifles DESCRIPTION OF THE HAZARD: Thompson/Center has identified a condition that may exist in some Compass rifles. We have determined that there may be some instances, depending on the height and position of the rifle and other factors, where a chambered round may fire if the firearm is dropped with the safety in the fire position.
